Fundraising Page for Stop Donkey Roping

I started a petition to Stop Donkey Roping at an event in Van Horn Tx on June 23-25, 2012. I am now working to raise funds to help those donkeys and other donkeys that have been the victims of cruelty, abuse and neglect. I know many of us face financial issues but please give as much as you can even if it's a few dollars, every dollar helps these wonderful trusting creatures. Donkey Roping is a PRCA non-sanctioned rodeo event. In these events, donkeys are prodded into running across an arena while being pursued by two mounted cowboys throwing ropes. One rope is thrown over the donkeys head and pulled back while the other rope is thrown around the donkey's hind legs. The two ropes are then twisted around the saddle pommels and the donkey is stretched between the two horses.

"Unnecessary cruelty" does not begin to describe this event.

PVDR cannot actively pursue the creation of stricter laws in regards to animals without jeopardizing our 501(c)(3) status. Lobbying is strictly prohibited. This does not stop our supporters from doing all that they can to lobby for new laws and the enforcement of existing laws that will protect these innocent animals.

The Texas Animal Curelty Law forbids certain actions that are used in these events, but the enforcement is lacking. This is due to enough "gray area" in the law as well as the unwillingness to prosecute constiguents in what many elected officials feel is not a crime. Click here for the Texas Animal Cruelty Laws

All funds raised in this campaign will be used for the rescue of these poor misused donkeys. The expenses for this project include:

Medical evaluation & Treatment
Microchipping
Vaccinations and Deworming
Castration
Care and Feeding
Relocation to Sanctuary
